BL514 - Rhineland humanism and craftwork in the Ried - Marckolsheim
Between Strasbourg and Colmar, the Grand Ried plain is ideal for exploring by bike. With its myriad natural treasures and preserved habitats, this region is exceptional. The term Ried comes from the Alemannic word “Rieth”, meaning reed and designates the meadow landscapes and forests abounding with flora in the floodplain. As you explore by bike, you can plunge into the past with the memorial museum of the Maginot Line in Marckolsheim, go for a refreshing dip in Wittisheim Lake, discover the barefoot path, the Nature and Traditional Crafts Centre in Muttersholtz and finally arrive in Sélestat, the high spot of Rhineland Renaissance and home of Beatus Rhenanus and the Humanist Library.
