RAILWAY WALBOURG - SELTZ (PART 1)

RAILWAY WALBOURG - SELTZ (PART 1)

From Surbourg on the Romanesque route of Alsace, the former converted railway line takes us to the potters' village of Betschdorf. Before leaving Surbourg, don't miss out on a visit to the former St-Arbogast collegiate church. And when you get to Betschdorf, take the time to explore the potters' workshops which produce famous salt stoneware: Alsace wine jugs, mustard pots, vinegar flasks, beer mugs etc. The pottery is engraved with a boxwood stylet and decorated with blue cobalt applied by paintbrush. This section was part of the former line of strategic interest which was built in 1893 and linked up Walbourg to Seltz. It was used for passengers and freight, notably bricks, tiles and ceramic artefacts produced in the region.
