Drusenheim

The city of Drusenheim is located on the site of a former castle built by the Roman general Claudius Drusus, commander of Gaul and the Upper and Lower Germanies. To stop the barbarian incursions, Drusus built about fifty fortified squares along the Rhine. One of them, called Drusenburg or Drusenburghof, is built on the current site of Drusenheim. Moreover, the name "Drusenheim" originates from the expression "Drusus-heim" or Drususus' dwelling.
